He said, “Let the little children come to me,” but He knew they would need someone in this life to love, nurture, and guide them.
So God made a teacher.
He needed someone to inspire curiosity and creativity. Someone to create more Pinterest boards for math manipulatives and bulletin board ideas than recipes or home decor. Someone to create a comfortable, inviting space where learning would feel natural.
So God made a teacher.
He knew the little children would need someone to welcome them each August with genuine excitement. Someone to walk back-to-school aisles with enthusiasm, filling a cart with classroom supplies then paying for them out-of-pocket. Someone to spend hours at the end of summer making the classroom just right. Someone to calm the nervous butterflies of the first day with a reassuring smile and a high-five.
So God made a teacher.
He needed an advocate to work hard for each of the little ones. Someone to believe in their abilities when no one else would. Someone to recognize that not everyone learns the same. Someone who could adjust, differentiate, and think outside the box. Someone to work beside struggling learners, pushing them to do more than they thought they could.
So God made a teacher.
He knew this helper would need to embrace His children with compassion.
Someone willing to wipe noses and bandage scrapes. Someone to hold hands and give hugs. Someone to be called mom by children who feel at home in her classroom. Someone to be an example of kindness.
So God made a teacher.
He needed someone to build relationships that last beyond the classroom. Someone willing to give up plan time because a student needs to talk. Someone to sit in the audience at graduation holding back tears from a heart bursting with pride. Someone who still recognizes the face of a teenage girl in a 30-year-old woman. Someone to teach lessons about reading, writing, and arithmetic but more importantly about life.
So God made a teacher.
He needed someone with endurance. Someone to support students all day in the classroom, then on the field, court, or stage. Someone to sacrifice evenings and weekends to plan, prepare, and grade.
Someone to come in early and stay late if it means helping a student find success.
So God made a teacher.
He knew this person needed to be a team player. Someone willing to cover classes for colleagues, to brainstorm and collaborate, and to encourage coworkers. Someone who would truly appreciate and support each member of the school family.
So God made a teacher.
He needed a giant with shoulders wide enough to bear the weight of burdens too heavy for the little children to carry, a backbone strong enough to stand up for what’s best for His children, and a heart big enough to love thousands of students over a lifetime.
So God made a teacher.
